Nokia 5800 Vs Nokia N97 Mini

The Nokia N97 Mini comes with a 3.2-inch screen but it wasn’t until the device actually arrived that we noticed how similar in size the new touchscreen smartphone was to the Nokia 5800. Find out if there are any other similarities are we the Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 Mini go head-to-head…

We have to admit that when Nokia first announced it would be releasing the Nokia N87 Mini that the size would pretty much bring it in line with the Nokia 5800. However, stick them side-by-side and you’ll see that a very similar design ethos is working behind the two.

Sure, the Nokia N97 Mini has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard but even taking that in to consideration, it shows that Nokia has done a great job in keeping the size and weight of the Nokia N97 Mini trim and pocketable.

Screen: Both the Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 Mini use a 3.2-inch resistive panel. They share the same resolution of 360 x 640 pixels, which is great for messaging and getting the latest Facebook updates. However, web browsing can be a little on the cramped side.

Memory & Storage: The Nokia N97 Mini may only have 8GB, which is a step-down from the 32GB of the Nokia N97, but it wipes the floor with the 81MB found on the Nokia 5800. However, both come with a microSD  slot – the Nokia 5800 accessible from the side of the phone, while the Nokia N97 Mini’s is hidden away under the backplate, so extra memory isn’t a concern.

RAM and Performance: The Nokia 5800 makes a good snap at being quick but it lacks the amount of RAM found on the Nokia N97 Mini, which clocks in at 256MB – twice that of the 128MB on the Nokia 5800.

Camera: The Nokia 5800 has a 3.2-Megpixel camera with dual-LED flash. Yes, you’ll find Carl Zeiss optics on both smartphones and auto-focus comes as standard. However, the Nokia N97 Mini tops that by using a 5-Megapixel CCD instead, so images are sharper, crisper and bigger!

Conclusion: In many respects, by making the Nokia N97 Mini the same size as the Nokia 5800 it makes upgrading an easier option. After all, those users who are ready to move from a mainstream S60 device to a full-featured QWERTY device less of an obstacle, as you’ll already know how easy to carry the Nokia 5800 around is.

hello i have a nokia 5800 blue one.
and i think that the 5800 is a more multimedia phone that the n97 or n97 mini wich in my point of view are executive/office phones.
as the name says the 5800 is a xpressmusic made for young people who likes music on the move and push to picture. and i think that the n97 mini is a phone more turned to executives, office workers, lawyers, and people like that.
but i think that both phones and great, except for the physical qwerty on the n97. i prefer the virtual one.
